The Grand Illumination of the Historic Union Station in Downtown Denver is free and open to the public. The official lighting will take place at Union Station, 1701 Wynkoop St., at 6:15 p.m. Friday November 23. In another historic moment in space exploration, NASA’s newest lander InSight is on its way to Mars! The spacecraft was launched on May 5, 2018, and is targeted to land at noon MST on November 26. InSight—or Interior Exploration Using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy, and Heat Transport— will explore the planet’s interior structure. The lander uses cutting edge instruments to delve deep beneath the surface and seek the fingerprints of the processes that formed the rocky terrestrial planets. Join the Denver Museum of Nature and Science’s Mars scientist Dr. Steve Lee and other local experts on Monday November 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to learn about this ambitious mission and what’s in store for the new lander. Then look over the shoulders of mission controllers during live NASA TV coverage of the landing.
