It’s that time of year when people are breaking out their holiday lights, putting up trees, baking cookies and celebrating holiday traditions. With the holidays here, malls are packed with people shopping for gifts for their loved ones.

According to the state Department of Labor and Employment, 3.1 percent of residents in Colorado are out of a job. However, with packed malls, retail stores and delivery systems being busy, there comes an opportunity for people to find employment.

Here’s a look at some employment opportunities around the Denver metro area.

Driver helper for UPS

UPS is looking for employees to work temporary as seasonal driver helpers. According to the job description, the company is looking for people who can work in a fast-paced environment. The job requires people to carry and lower packages that weigh from 25 pounds all the way up to some that may weigh 70 pounds.

Hours can change, but employees typically start their days after 8 a.m. and their work days finish before 8 p.m.

Package handler for UPS

UPS is hiring part time package handlers. This job is also described as being fast paced, and workers will need to be able to lift packages that usually weigh from 25 pounds to 35 pounds. Some packages may weigh up to 70 pounds, and the company’s part time employees work 3 ˝ to 4 hours each day from Monday to Friday.

Part time package handlers make a $200 weekly bonus along with a $15 per hour pay.

Both UPS jobs can be found at www.upscareers.jobs

Retail customer service associate for FedEx

In order to qualify for the job, applicants should have a high school diploma, six months of specialized experience and verbal and written communication skills.

Material handler/warehouse-am shift for FedEx

FedEx is looking for material handler employees who would work an a.m. shift Tuesday through Saturday from 12:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. This job would be located at the FedEx Express Denver International Airport Facility. At Flatiron Crossing, there are a variety of jobs available, according to the mall’s website. The Children’s Place is looking for a part-time sales associate, while places like New York & Company and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory inside the mall are looking to fill similar positions as well.
