Lace up your skates and start practicing your axels, jumps and spins as the free ice skating rink on the Denver International Airport (DEN) outdoor plaza returns for its third season. DEN invites passengers and communities to join in on the winter fun this season.
Back by popular demand, the DEN ice skating rink will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, from Nov. 23 to Jan. 6 on the DEN Plaza. Check in at the “Skate Shop” Airstream trailer located on the plaza to pick up free skate rentals, available in many sizes, then hit the ice before or after your flight, or for a fun winter activity. If you don’t want to skate, but want to enjoy the sights and sounds, spectators now have a comfortable place to watch the skaters from bleachers and lounge seating.
“Ice skating on our pop-up ice rink has quickly become a signature event for Denver International Airport,” said CEO Kim Day. “It’s just another way we’re demonstrating our commitment to an improved passenger experience. For flight crews, travelers, employees and even local residents, skating with the dramatic backdrop of the Jeppesen Terminal is becoming a seasonal tradition.”
The ice rink will feature music daily and to keep warm, free hot chocolate and cider will also be available beginning at noon on Fridays. In addition, be on the lookout for special appearances and performances on the ice every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. including curling lessons and mascot appearances. Check our Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates on upcoming special ice rink events.
This year’s ice rink is made possible in partnership with United Airlines.
The plaza is located pre-security, is open to the public and is accessible just steps from RTD’s A Line commuter rail station at DEN, or a short walk from the airport parking garages
