The Colorado Rockies have started to turn things around after losing three straight to the Philadelphia Phillies last weekend. The Rockies continued their road trip in Pittsburgh last week in a three-game series with the Pirates.

The Colorado Rockies took two of three from the Pirates with wins in games one and two losing game three Thursday afternoon at PNC Park. The Rockies returned home on Friday to host the Baltimore Orioles in three games. The Colorado Rockies won games one and three in that series .

Yesterday, Colorado’s pitcher John Grey and Rockies faced the Arizona Diamondbacks in game one of four. Colorado and Arizona remained scoreless through three innings however, Arizona put up a single run in the fourth to which Rockies outfielder David Dahl responded with a single shot homer, tying the game.

Later in the sixth inning the Diamondbacks added another run. Colorado nearly gave up another had it not been for the hustle of left-fielder Raimel Tapia who made a remarkable catch just inside the third-base line which ended the inning.

The Rockies had an opportunity to either tie the game or take the lead in the bottom of the sixth, with bases loaded for Colorado’s top prospect Brendan Rodgers who popped a straight-line ball to first to end the inning and any chance of tying the game.

At the start of the seventh the Diamondbacks added another run when Arizona’s shortstop Nick Ahmed blasted a single run homer into the Colorado Rockies bullpen. In the bottom of the seventh the Rockies managed to load up the bases with Nolan Arenado at the plate. Arenado barreled the ball down the third baseline bringing in two runs to tie the game at three apiece.

Monday’s game saw extra innings, and in the 11th Colorado Rockie Ian Desmond blasted a ball to right field where the ball bounced off the top line making the play a double rather than home-run. Next up was Raimel Tapia who earlier saved potential runs, blasted a line-drive right up the middle of the field bringing in the runner at third for a Rockies walk-off win on Memorial Day.

In other sports the Colorado Rapids enjoyed their second win of the season after beating the Columbus Crew SC on Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids rallied on a goal from Nicolás Mezquida after Columbus tied the game. The Colorado Rapids are in Philadelphia this week to face the Philadelphia Union Wednesday, May 29th at 5:30 p.m. MST.
