Operation Free Bird is back on Saturday November, 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Denver Mart (451 E. 58th). Operation Free Bird is a community event designed to bring the less-fortunate citizens in Adams County together with local agencies, businesses and organizations. The main idea is to supply Adams County families in need with everything needed for a complete Thanksgiving dinner. This year’s event will be the sixteenth annual. In partnership with local businesses, agencies and individuals, they supply turkeys, in addition to other food items for a Thanksgiving meal to Adams County residents. Also provided are free flu shots, medical, dental, hearing and vision screening, career and personal advice, haircuts and child ID kits, free hot dogs and soft drinks, and much more. All at no cost to the attendees. Every donated dollar is given right back to the community.

During Fall and Thanksgiving Breaks at the Denver Art Museum (DAM), kids can enjoy several interactive exhibitions and hands-on artmaking in the galleries and in the Paint Studio—all for free thanks to the Free for Kids program. Fall and Thanksgiving Break activities are included in general admission, which is free for youth 18 and under and DAM members every day. All Fall Break activities are presented in English and Spanish. For more information on Fall Break at the DAM, visit
