If you’re new to Colorado you’ve probably found out by now that commuting around the Metro area is a daunting task in normal conditions; however, mother nature tends to toss in a monkey wrench and make commutes virtually impossible, that is until you’ve driven the 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro.
This vehicle might be the commuter’s answer to anything Mother Nature throws at us in the Rockies.
La Voz had the opportunity to test this brute out and by week’s end it was hard to part with. The Army Green 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro came with all the bells and whistles and with a starting price of $52,147 you get everything including a convenient sliding rear cargo deck, Android Auto & Apple Car Play compatibility as well as a full 8” premium Touch Screen with premium audio and dynamic navigation.
This Brute comes with a 4.0L DOHC 24-valve V6 w/dual independent Variable Valve Timing, and 270 HP with 278 pounds of torque. What makes this vehicle perfect for Colorado road conditions are the plethora of options available to the driver, like a part-time 4WD system with Active TRAC, a locking rear differential, multi-terrain select & and crawl controls in the center head console, and hill-start assist control for those back country expeditions.
My biggest gripe with the TRD Pro would have to be fuel consumption with 17 miles per gallon (mpg) combined city and highway, 16 mpg in the city, and 19 mpg on the highway.
While the $52,147 price tag maybe steep for many looking for the perfect all around vehicle in Colorado, Toyota offers various trim options in the Toyota 4Runner including the SR5; the SR5 Premium, Venture, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium Limited, and the Limited Nightshade all of which come with the same 4.0-litre V6.
So if you’re new to Colorado or a native, in need of a change from old faithful, head down to your nearest Toyota dealership and test drive the 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro.
