In game four the Portland Trailblazers evened up the series with the Denver Nuggets at two games apiece. Both teams chalking up a wins in the others arena and one at home. The series between these two looked like it would go the full distance, seven games, even after the Nuggets took game 5 back at Ball Arena beating the Blazers 147-140.

Game six in Portland looked promising for the Trail Blazers. They outscored the Nuggets 29-33 in the first quarter and 35-32 in the second. Although the Blazers led by seven at halftime and had all the momentum heading into the locker room on a Damian Lillard three that closed out the first half, it was the Nuggets who begin to shift the momentum in their favor coming out in the third quarter. The Nuggets outscored Portland in the third 37-33 and again in the fourth, 28-14 closing out their series with the Trail Blazers 126-115.

The Nuggets were in Phoenix to face the Suns in a best-of-seven series that kicked off Monday night at Talking Stick Resort Arena. While game one was pretty evenly matched through the half, it was the Suns who stepped up in the second half outscoring the Nuggets 65-47 beating Denver and taking game one of the series. Game two is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and the Nuggets return home on Friday for game three at 8 p.m.

The 2021 CONCACAF Nations League was held at Empower Field at Mile High since the start of June and over the weekend team U.S. beat favored Mexico to become the first ever CONCACAF Nations League Champions.

Mexico jumped out to a 1-0 lead early, after Jesus Corona of Mexico scored just 70 seconds into the game. Weston McKennie of U.S. responded to even up the match at one apiece. U.S. goalie Zack Steffen was spectacular denying several potential game killers from Mexico’s Hirving Lozano and Guillermo Ochoa. It wasn’t until Mexico’s Diego Lainez gave them the 2-1 advantage in the 79’.

U.S.’s McKennie responded yet again with the equalizer that put both Mexico and U.S. fans at Empowerment Field at Mile High on edge. An additional 30 minutes was whistle while the two remained deadlocked at 2 apiece. Shortly after the whistled time addition, U.S. Christian Pulisic converted a Mexico penalty in the 114’ to a 3-2 U.S. lead and final, giving the U.S. their first CONCACAF Championship.

The Colorado Avalanche have now lost two straight to the Las Vegas Knights after losing game four in Las Vegas over the weekend. The Avs were scheduled for game 5 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (the results of that game were not available at the time of this writing). While Colorado appears to have been outplayed in the past three games despite winning game two, they hope that home ice will give the team a needed boost to a win over the Golden Knights for game 5.

The Colorado Rockies just wrapped up a three-game series with the Oakland Athletics and won game three, 3-1. Colorado lost its previous two games to the Athletics 9-5 in game one and 6-3 in game two.

The Rockies are set to kick off a three-game series with the Florida Marlins Tuesday, Wednesday (@5:10 p.m.) and Thursday (@5:10 p.m.) this week in Florida. The Rockies have reached .400 with 24 wins and 36 losses and are 13 games behind the division-leading San Francisco Giants.
