RTD light rail maintenance impacts some service through July

Work will impact Nine Mile, Southmoor and Belleview stations; bus shuttles will be available

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will be replacing overhead wire on sections of the H and R lines Tuesday, July 6 through Wednesday, July 7.

Customers should anticipate delays due to the maintenance and are encouraged to explore using alternate stations if their trips are impacted by the rail closure as listed below.

H Line

Service will be suspended between Nine Mile and Southmoor stations on the H Line. Bus shuttles will be operating from the following affected stations:

Nine Mile Station: Board bus shuttle at Gate E

Dayton Station: Board bus shuttle at temporary gate

Southmoor Station: Board bus shuttle at Gate A

H Line service will operate a modified schedule from Florida Station to Nine Mile Station and from Southmoor Station to 18th & California Station. Customers should expect delays and plan accordingly.

R Line

Service will be suspended between Nine Mile and Belleview stations on the R Line. Bus shuttles will be provided from the following affected stations:

Nine Mile Station: Board bus shuttle at Gate E

Dayton Station: Board bus shuttle at temporary gate

Belleview Station: Board bus shuttle at Gate A

R Line service will run normal schedules from Peoria Station to Nine Mile Station and from Lincoln Station to Belleview Station.

Resumed service

Regular service on both lines will resume Thursday, July 8.

Customers must continue to wear masks while riding any RTD vehicle, per federal mandate.

Our Government

White House

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. declared that an emergency exists in the State of Florida and ordered Federal assistance to supplement State, tribal, and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from Tropical Storm Elsa beginning on July 4, and continuing.

Colorado Governor

Governor Jared Polis announced today that 70.04 percent of Colorado adults have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and the state has met President Joe Biden’s aspirational goal of vaccinating 70 percent of Americans aged 18 and up by July 4th.

“I am excited that our state has reached the goal of 70 percent of adults with at least their first vaccination by Independence Day. This is an exciting milestone for the people of our state, it is a testament to our resilience and united commitment in the fight against this deadly virus. The vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect ourselves and enjoy the life we love in Colorado,” said Governor Polis.

Denver Mayor

As part of the city’s overall pandemic-recovery plan, Mayor Michael B. Hancock announced new and expanded strategies aimed at assisting unhoused residents and resolving homelessness throughout our community.

The Mayor and Department of Housing Stability (HOST) Executive Director Britta Fisher shared details of the recovery plan at a new 24/7 shelter capable of serving 450 men near Colorado Boulevard and 48th Avenue. The shelter opened last week and is operated by Denver Rescue Mission.

“An episode of homelessness should be no more than a brief, one-time circumstance, and we must do everything in our power to stabilize our most vulnerable neighbors,” Mayor Hancock said.
