New York Governor Andrew Cuomo resigned yesterday, after a 10 year run as governor. The Cuomo dynasty includes his father’s tenor in New York’s highest office. Recent sexual harassment allegations led to an investigation recently shared with the public by New York’s Attorney General
The investigation’s results depleted any support Governor Cuomo may have had from his constituents. His attorney, Rita Glavin, led a press conference prior to Gov. Cuomo’s resignation which cited inaccuracies, and unfair treatment of her client during the investigation. She added, “From day one this was about building a case against Gov. Cuomo.” Gov. Cuomo has held the office for the past 10 years, and reportedly New York City’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic rated as a model for the rest of the country. Also, Gov. Cuomo’s administration was instrumental in the passing of legislature regarding same sex marriage.
During his resignation, Gov. Cuomo said, “the best way I can help is if I step aside and let government get back to the governing.” He praised the people of New York for their resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gov.
