Profile

Born in San Luis, Colo. and raised in Amalia, N.M., Quintana-Guttierrez’ family moved to Las Animas in 1964. After graduating from high school she moved to Denver and attended cosmetology school at Orchid Beauty Academy. Married in 1974 to Tom, they have two adult daughters, Alison and Eneria. Alison is a nurse practitioner and Eneria works with Colorado Access. Both have achieved college degrees and Alison is seeking her Ph.D. Quintana-Guttierrez worked as a hair stylist in Denver through 1983, then moved to Monte Vista where she opened a hair salon called Contemporary Look. In 1999 she moved to Greeley working at various hair salons until she opened up Salon at Tuscany with co-owner Diana Sheldon. Quintana-Guttierrez’ other interest is being the main cantor and guitarist at Our Lady of Peace in Greeley. She has filled the role of cantor and guitarist at her parish for over 30 years. During her free time, she spends time with her four grandchildren.

About Salon at Tuscany

Under co-ownership with Sheldon and Quintana-Guttierrez, Salon Tuscany is known for its feel-good home environment. Clients range from children to the elderly, plus men. The décor is a big draw as it changes from season to season.

High School Experience

Quintana-Guttierrez initially felt like an outsider. It was a culture shock for her and her family. She recalls that her fondness of business classes and Spanish class gave her comfort and prepared her for her future business.

Message to Youth

“Education is the best path you can take. If you have an opportunity to get a college degree, do it.”

Last Word

Quintana-Guttierrez offers, “My religion is my foundation. I love people and I’m open and courteous. I feel blessed in the position I’m in.”
