Operation Hero Trek is hosting its annual Golf Tournament at The Ridge at Castle Pines in memory of fallen Navy SEAL Danny P. Dietz, Jr. The “Florida Scramble” format tournament begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19. Emile Hirsch, who portrayed Dietz in the film “Lone Survivor” will be playing, as well as Cindy Dietz-Marsh, mother of Danny Dietz, and her daughter Tiffany Bitz. An awards ceremony and reception will begin at 3 p.m. at the clubhouse on the course. Music will be by 9’s a Par, a band comprised of Denver firefighters. The School District 27J Student Wellness Advisory Council sponsors the annual G.Y.M. (Get Yourself Moving) 1 mile/5K fun run/walk Saturday, Sept. 20. The race starts and finishes at Brighton High School Stadium, located at the corner of Ron Cox Avenue (10th Avenue) and Southern Street in Brighton.
