PROFILE

Manuelito Casias is a senior at Alamosa High School where he holds a 3.84 GPA. Casias is taking four advanced placement classes and is in the top ten of his class. He is a media tech and works with the school news. He is also a part of GSA (gay-straight alliance). He is also active in wrestling and football. Casias would like to attend Adams State University or Augustana University in South Dakota.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Casias works with the children in the community and spends a lot of time at Alamosa Elementary School. He works with children who are struggling in school and helps them to understand the assignments. For the passed two weeks Casias has been working with the kindergarten children with reading comprehension and how to spell their names. He also coaches youth sports throughout the year.

WHY IS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IMPORTANT?

“Your community is that, your community. I want to live with people who are educated and have good morals. If you lead by example it will create a better future.”
