Game two of the NBA Finals took place on Sunday night in Oakland and just like last year’s Finals the Golden State Warriors are up two games to none. Last year the Cleveland Cavaliers came back after being down two games to none, besting the Warriors in seven. This year appears to be a bit different.
While many might think that the Cavs still have a chance to repeat their run from last season, others are looking at this Golden State Warrior’s team and saying, “there’s no chance, with the way Golden State is playing.” Sunday night the Warriors broke an NBA record for 3 points made in a final’s game with a whopping 18 threes, accounting for 54 of the Warriors’ 132 points.
The Warriors will now head to Cleveland to face the Cavs for game three in hopes of extending their lead, three games to none. The Cavs have their work cut out for them, and the hole they’re in seems much deeper than last season’s. The Cavs have played great basketball up until this matchup so expect them to come out in fierce fashion in game three which is scheduled on Wednesday night in Cleveland at 7 p.m. MST.
In other sports the Colorado Rapids beat the Columbus Crew SC on Saturday afternoon with a late goal at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City. The Rapids are in last place in the Western Conference with 4 wins and 8 losses for the 2017 season. Fans hope that Saturday night’s win will be the spark the Rapids need to turn their season around.
The Colorado Rockies are still on top of the National League West, however the L.A. Dodgers are not far behind. The Rockies lost three games to the Seattle Mariners last week but have started the month of June with 4 wins to 1 loss. The Rockies are scheduled to face the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs this week where they will host the Indians and travel to Chicago to take on the Cubs. The Rockies are still struggling to garner respect despite their incredible record, but remain on top of the NL West and don’t appear to be letting up. The Dodgers are looking to unseat the Rockies but Colorado has managed to keep L.A. at arms length.
