Broncos have much to prove

The Colorado Rockies are 11.5 games behind the league-leading L.A. Dodgers, but have closed the lead the Arizona Diamondbacks have had since the All-Star break. Both Arizona and Colorado are tied in the division for second and still have a great shot at making the playoffs as a wildcard, because unless the L.A. Dodgers have a complete meltdown they will likely win the division.

The Rockies are on the road this week in St. Louis and Washington to face the Cardinals and the Capitals. Colorado lost their first series to the Capitals earlier this season winning only one of four while winning their three-game series against the Cardinals earlier this year. Colorado returns next week for the first week of August at home with series against the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies.

In other sports, a major news publication released its 2017-18 NFL predictions and have the Denver Broncos dead last in the AFC West just behind the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Diego Chargers, and the Oakland Raiders. The Denver Broncos experienced this level of criticism the year they went to Super Bowl 50 in 2016. Then, Peyton Manning had one of his worst seasons and many beleived the Broncos had no chance to win; however, itís believed that Denverís defense is in much better shape than they were that season. Note to fans: All the Broncos really need is for one of the young quarterbacks to step up and play better than Peyton did in the 2015-16 season.
