Colorado’s Judicial Deptartment offers free legal resources

The Colorado Judicial Department is providing free Legal Resource Days in 12 locations around the state in October 2017.Legal Resource Day is one way the Colorado Judicial Department provides that assistance. Volunteer lawyers and others will teach sessions Oct. 25-27 in Breckenridge, Brighton, Centennial, Cortez, Durango, Fort Collins, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Greeley, Montrose, Pueblo, and Sterling. North Metro and Saint Joe’s offer free breast exams

North Metro Fire Rescue District is teaming up with St. Joseph Hospital again to raise awareness about breast cancer risks and to offer breast-screening exams for residents in Broomfield on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Women, ages 40 and older, are invited to visit Broomfield’s Health and Humans Services (HHS) building at 100 Spader Way in Broomfield to receive a mammogram through St. Joseph’s mobile mammography van. The van will be in the parking lot from 
8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Exams take less than 20 minutes and are conducted by St. Joseph’s trained specialists and breast radiologists.

Aurora taking donation for the residents of Puerto Rico

Metro residents are encouraged to show their support for the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico by donating items at one of the following four sites in Aurora on October 28:

- Town Center at Aurora, 14200 E. Alameda Ave. (east parking lot, northwest corner of South Sable Blvd. and East Centrepoint Drive, across from Aurora Metro Center Station)

- Walmart, 6101 S. Aurora Parkway (Southlands)

- Costco, 1471 S. Havana St. (south parking lot near tire center)

- Walmart, 5650 S. Chambers Road (Pioneer Hills)

Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan called on the Mayor’s Coordinated City Response Team to organize the relief effort after receiving a plea from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz via the U.S. Conference of Mayors. In response, the team will be collecting the following unused items for shipment to Puerto Rico:

- Food (non-perishable items only)

- Bottled water

- Diapers (for children and adults)

- Flashlights and batteries

- Solar-powered items

- New portable generators
