Home town team drops to 3-6

The Denver Broncos lost their sixth straight game to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon in Denver. As a result, the Denver Broncos have fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy. McCoy started his coaching career in North Carolina in 2000 and in 2008 the Denver Broncos hired McCoy as the quarterbacks coach. In January of 2013 the then, San Diego Chargers hired McCoy as the head coach and at the start of 2017 the Denver Broncos hired McCoy to run Denver’s offense. Quarterbacks Coach Bill Musgrave will take on the offensive coordinator responsibilities in the interim.

The Denver Broncos limp into Raiders week and head to Oakland to face a struggling Oakland Raiders this weekend. The New England Patriots in Mexico City pummeled Oakland on Sunday afternoon losing 33 – 8 in a game that wasn’t even close. Oakland was held scoreless through three quarters before getting on the board late to prevent the shutout. Next week, Denver and Oakland battle for the second to last spot in the AFC West a position Denver currently holds after dropping six straight.

In 2014 Martin Truex Jr. found a home with Denver based NASCAR team Furniture Row Racing and in just 3 years on the team has brought to Denver its first NASCAR Cup. On Sunday afternoon in Homestead-Miami Speedway, Truex led in the last 51 laps while Kyle Busch tried catching him, burning up his tires in the process. Truex came to Furniture Row Racing after they lost driver Kurt Busch who had left for Stewart-Haas Racing.

In 2016 Truex and the Furniture Row Racing team were knocked out of contentions after experiencing engine failure at Talladega but 2017 was Truex’ year, winning 8 races including Sunday’s race at Homestead.

In other sports the Denver Nuggets are still looking good for the month of November despite losing two of their last three to the Portland Trailblazers and the L.A. Lakers. This week the Nuggets are on the road to face the Sacramento Kings and the Houston Rockets before returning home on Friday, November 24, to face the Memphis Grizzlies. The Nuggets close out the month of November with a road trip to Utah to face the Jazz, and return home to host the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, November 30.
