The 2018 NFL Draft proved that the Denver Broncos President of Football operations isn’t looking to wait and rebuild the Broncos. The Denver Broncos have had five top five picks since 1960. Not many but that is a good indication of Denver’s success over the years. Last week the Broncos had their first top five pick since they selected Von Miller at number 2 in the 2011 draft.

This year the Broncos’ pick at number 5 was Von Miller’s Yang to his Yin, in Bradley Chubb. Chubb, quite possibly the best defensive player in the draft was a no brainer after the Cleveland Browns selected Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward in lieu of Chubb. While many still remain scratching their heads over Cleveland’s selection, Denver Broncos fans rejoiced in celebration when a young patient and aspiring broadcaster, Austin from New Mexico read the Denver Broncos first pick in the draft.

The Broncos remaining picks were just as exciting, adding two more wide receivers with their number two and number six picks. Both Courtland Sutton of Southern Methodist University and DeaSean Hamilton of Penn State add depth to Denver’s receiving corps. Sutton has been compared to Emmanuel Sanders with size and ability while Hamilton was part of a great one two punch playing along side the draft’s number 2 overall pick in Saquon Barkley.

Denver also picked up some defensive pieces in addition to Chubb, including Boston College cornerback Isaac Yiadom, Iowa’s inside linebacker Josey Jewell, and Washington linebacker Keishawn Bierria.

Last week we discussed the unpredictability of the draft and many can agree that most of, if not all picks weren’t exactly what many expected, despite still being ecstatic over the results. While it is tough to grade a draft selection without results, many will agree that they’re satisfied with the results of the 2018 Draft.

In other sports the Colorado Rockies are 3-3 since last Tuesday beating the San Diego Padres 2 games to 1 in their respective three-game series although Colorado fell 2 games to 1 in their series with the Miami Marlins over the weekend. This week the Rox travel to Chicaco to face the Cubs again and then head out to New York to face the Mets in a three -game series which begins this Friday.

The Colorado Rapids lost 1-2 to Orlando City on Sunday in Orlando. Colorado has this week to prepare for Sporting Kansas City on Sunday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
