When Donald Trump announced his candidacy for President of the United States, he did it by demonizing Latino immigrants. He came down the escalators in Trump Tower to say that immigrants coming across our southern borders were rapists, drug dealers and criminals who only a strong person like himself could stop.
His racism and bigotry soon extended to women, Muslims, the media and any individuals or politicians that criticized his ideas and image. His grandstanding resonated with almost a third of the country that think or have been told that they will no longer be the majority and soon will lose control of the country.
He positioned himself as the last and only great White hope that can lead his people out of the wilderness and “Make America Great Again.” However, what was to be some kind of hero that brought renewal for a desperate people in decadence, is rapidly becoming a metaphor that combines concepts and images of the Trojan Horse, the Manchurian Candidate and a Fifth Column in our midst.
The Trojan Horse full of enemy soldiers inside was left behind by the Greeks as a peace offering to Troy that led to its destruction as a city-state. The Manchurian Candidate (1959), is a novel by Richard Condon about a brainwashed member of a prominent American family programmed by the Communists to be their assassin.
A Fifth Column is “a group within a country at war who are sympathetic to or working for its enemies.” Makes no mistake about it, Russia is our enemy.
Trumps behavior when it comes to anything Russian was crowned by his demonstrated subservience to Putin in Helsinki. His words that confirmed his support of his Russian master over his own government makes him a traitor to America.
His betrayal recalls Lincoln’s words: “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
Trump went to Helsinki with a hidden purpose. The purpose however, appears to have something to do with with his life before he became a candidate for president as well as how he got elected.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation has uncovered an elaborate Russian state-sponsored scheme to interfere in the 2016 presidential campaigns and help Donald Trump get elected. When asked about this in Helsinki, President Putin admitted that he not only wanted Trump to win but actively supported the criminal enterprise in his behalf.
Through media coverage, we learned the public part of the Helsinki event and it was not good for America. What is of even greater concern is the 2-hour private conversation held by the 2 presidents.
The concern is driven by the theory that what happened in the private meeting between the two was even worse for the United States. There is talk about bringing in one of the interpreters to testify before a congressional committee about what was said in that meeting.
The mid-term elections are coming and Trump’s weak showing in Helsinki has emboldened Putin to do more attacks against democratic institutions around the world. He may have also used those 2 hours to conspire with Trump on a mid-term election plan designed to help the Republican Party and keep the American President in power.
The Russian President has proven to be an enemy eager to regain the power and status of what was the Soviet Union. In Trump he has found an American leader who is willing to betray his country to be of help.
