WORDS TO LIVE BY

“Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.” - Bruce Lee

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Jimenez has previously served meals at the Ronald McDonald House, planted trees for Community Arbor Day, donated clothes to the homeless, volunteered at a homeless shelter, and also helps engage kids actively into reading and doing homework at the Johnson Boys and Girls Club.

WHY IS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IMPORTANT?

“Academic success can only carry a person so far. Character is the true definition of what kind of person you are, not statistical numbers. Participating in your community builds character, pushing you to become the best version of yourself. Somebody who goes out of their way to aid those around them is a value anybody can benefit from. Caring about others should not have to come out as beneficial - it should come out of human kindness.”

IF I COULD IMPROVE THE WORLD I WOULD...

“Start out small, although with large intentions. Giving back to my community first would be a priority; they were the most influential while maturing. The overall goal would not come as a result of me alone. No, changing the world must be a collective effort. Even so much as sparking a random act of kindness in a stranger around me, with them passing it on, would make an astronomical impact. Giving back to schools, funding education, helping those in burdensome financial situations; these are all issues I have seen recur within my own community - fixing those would be a first-hand priority.”

COLLEGE OF CHOICE

“Staying in state is a large factor in me picking a college. Colorado College is a private, four-year university that I have been working diligently towards attend. Other colleges I am applying to are also through QuestBridge: Stanford, Princeton, MIT, and Yale.”
