Isabella Cervantes has been selected as LaVozColorado’s 2025–2026 Scholarship winner. For Cervantes and her classmates in Denver East High School’s graduating Class of 2026, high school is now a memory. Graduates have many paths to consider and decisions to make after high school. For some, that path will lead to college or university; others will join the military, pursue a trade or enter the workforce. Whatever their choice, each graduate begins a new life journey.
Isabella Cervantes, featured on April 1, 2026, as LaVozColorado Student of the Week, is enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cervantes will begin her studies in the fall and plans to major in Global Health. Cervantes is a trilingual Latina who also plans to minor in Mandarin.
Cervantes is an accomplished artist with strong academic achievement and a passion for research, public health and advocacy. Among her many academic honors, Cervantes received the Dean’s Fellowship Award for the Medical School Intensive Program at Johns Hopkins, was named an AP Scholar with Distinction, and received the College Board Recognition Award. She has volunteered with several organizations and gained research experience through the National Kidney Foundation and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
