The Denver Broncos defied the odds once again and delivered another Mile High comeback at Empower Field versus the Super Bowl LX champs, the Seattle Seahawks.
The Broncos’ offense with encouragement from Bo Nix managed to squeeze out fourteen points in the first half, all of those coming in the second quarter, while the defense held the Seahawks to just three points by the half. Later, the Broncos would have a disastrous second half, going scoreless and allowing the Seahawks to tie the game and forcing overtime.
Ultimately the defense would swoop in to make up for their second half mistakes, and Ja’Quan McMillian made game-winning interception on the first OT drive which then allowed the offense and Wil Lutz to seal the game with a piercing a 53-yard field goal securing a 17-14 Broncos win.
Nix totaled 107 yards for the evening with no interceptions. Both J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey would punch home both TDs for the night, and despite the team’s offense lackluster performance overall for the season and especially this game, this squad has still managed to amass a very gritty yet noteworthy 4-2 record. Despite our continued struggle to unlock the offense, the Broncos continue to win.
Off the field, Jonathon Cooper is set to make his return following his arrest over summer due to a domestic violence dispute. The outside linebacker could return as soon as the Broncos’ matchup on October 25th at 1:05 p.m. MT in enemy territory against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Avs won against Dallas on their own ice at the American Airlines Center. Since then, the Avs have gone on a bumpy 1-3 stretch, their most recent affair happening Tuesday, October 20th in a 4-3 loss versus the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center. Lehkonen continues to put himself on the scoresheet scoring two goals. Also, Landeskog scored a goal. Despite their scoring efforts however, the Devils would outpace the Avs and be the more successful team on ice.
The Avalanche have their sights set on Friday night’s matchup versus the Tampa Bay Lightning where the Avs look to bounce back from two back-to-back losses.
Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. MT at Ball Arena, October 23.
