The Denver Broncos have defied odds once again and prevailed past their opponents in another Sunday night showdown with their hearts and grit on full display for the home crowd.
After a one-sided first half with the Los Angeles Rams scoring 16 unanswered points, the Broncos miraculously rallied together and punched home their own set of 16 unanswered points in the third quarter and outscored the Rams 14-10 in the fourth to seal a 30-26 win at home.
While being able to work through adversity Bo Nix continues to struggle as the season unravels. The QB had a 50 percent completion on passes with two touchdown passes to receiver Pat Bryant and tight end Nate Adkins. Nix also, unfortunately, threw an interception that would evolve into a three-point gain for the Rams.
Interceptions also led the Broncos to secure the game as safety Talanoa Hufanga would pick a final lob from Matthew Stafford in the final moments of the game. That wouldn’t be the 26-year-old safety’s first interception either as he profited from Stafford’s mistake earlier in the fourth quarter for a pick six to further ignite the Denver machine.
In other Denver sports, fans have their horizons set on another local powerhouse who’s close to their debut date for the 2026-2027 season. After wrapping up preseason last Saturday the 26th, the Colorado Avalanche are set for a faceoff in their season and home opener against the highly talented and gritty Los Angeles Kings, puck drop will take place Wednesday, September 30th at 8 p.m. MST.
The biggest takeaway from the preseason is TJ Hughes and his praise from the Avalanche staff. With Hughes’ stellar preseason performance and hat trick versus Winnipeg, he declared his spot on the roster with authority and the rookie looks to promise another layer of depth to an already lethal squad.
After another historic losing season, the final nail in the coffin was hammered on Sunday evening. While the Rockies didn’t end the season on a losing streak as they won game two of their three-game White Sox series, Sunday night’s matchup brought us the last 4-2 Rockies loss for the 2026 baseball season.
Even though the Rockies still aren’t competitive, this season was not all doom and gloom. The Rockies improved from last year’s dumpster fire season, and the Rockies are taking steps in the right direction when it comes to our younger and more reliable talents. They might not be competitive next season either, but the Rockies are on an upward slope back into legit contention. Now how long that slope will take to peak, is unclear.
