The Denver Broncos were met with a bitter loss 24-14 on Sunday afternoon’s showdown against the powerhouse San Francisco 49ers.
Due to performance and due to injury, the Broncos totaled out for 14 points, a Nix touchdown pass, two field goals, and a two-point conversion by Tyler Badie. Those 14 would not be enough to outperform the 49ers’ offense who scored in three-quarters of the game.
Injuries riddled the Broncos’ roster and both Riley Moss and Pat Surtain II went down. Surtain sustained a non-contact injury, and the report suggests that Surtain avoided a long-term injury. So far, the corner is being monitored week to week, his set return is still unclear.
Moss checked out of the game once halftime hit with a rib injury, Moss’s report also suggests that he did not sustain a long-term injury and is also set for a quick return. WR3 Pat Bryant also went down on Sunday afternoon’s game with the receiver sustaining a sprained ankle and is expected to return in a few weeks.
The Broncos continue their ride on the struggle bus when it comes to scoring and warming up to game temperature. Whether that’s due to Davis Webb and his newfound job as Broncos play caller or how the team is building Nix back up from his injury; the question isn’t when they emerge from their slump, now it’s if they emerge from this slump. If these issues continue the Broncos will find themselves in a difficult and treacherous season. However, hope remains among Denver sports fans.
The Broncos are set against Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers, where the Broncos hope to saddle back up and avoid falling below .500 while the Chargers and Justin Herbert look to secure their first win after a disastrous start to the season.
Kickoff is set for Sunday, October 11th at 2:05 p.m. MDT.
Good news for Avs’ fans, the Colorado Avalanche obliterated the St. Louis Blues early this week.
Saturday night’s matchup brought us some classic Colorado hockey as the boys totaled out for six goals on the evening, absolutely dismantling Jordan Binnington who had a .833 save percentage.
Nathan MacKinnon would be Saturday night’s facilitator as he tossed the frozen biscuit around for a total of three assists. Martin Nečas threw another Marty party on home ice this game as well as he scored just shy of a hat trick.
Those weren’t the only scorers, however, as Artturi Lehkonen, Cale Makar, Josh Manson, and Nicolas Roy all scored a goal.
The Avs had their sights on an away-game win against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, October 7, at 5:30 p.m., but they fell short in a 3-2 loss.
