The Nuggets and Avalanche hurling towards post season

Date:

Despite the Avalanche’s hot start and dominating performances, they’ve recently fallen into a slump losing seven of their last ten games with their most recent loss coming on Monday night at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings.

Colorado still holds the best record in the league at 36-9-9 with 81 points while the two closest competitors remain 5 points behind. The Minnesota Wild and the Dallas Stars sit at number 2 and three in the Central Division and in the league.

Over the weekend the Avs were in Detroit to face the Red Wings in the first of a back-to-back game against Detroit. The Avs shutout the Red Wings 5-0 on Saturday but Detroit returned the favor by shutting out Colorado 2-0 on Monday night.

Colorado is at home this week to host the San Jose Sharks before heading to Utah to face the Mammoth.

In other sports the Denver Nuggets now have their All-Star back in Nikola Jokic who returned to the floor when Denver hosted the L.A. Clippers on Friday night. Jokic returned like he was never gone scoring 31 points 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Jamal Murray finally got his first All-Star nod.

The Denver Nuggets hosted the top team in the league in the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night losing 121-111.

This week the Nuggets are on the road to face the Detroit Pistons (game results not available at the time of this writing) before heading to Cleveland to face the Cavaliers next Monday.

Currently the Denver Nuggets are 3rd in the Western Conference 6 games behind the Thunder and a half game behind the San Antonio Spurs. The Nuggets are 33-17 with a good run without their MVP over the past month keeping them within reach of Oklahoma.

Super Bowl 60 is this weekend with both teams meeting up in San Francisco in what many expect to be a tough fought game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. Patriots Drake Maye is in his second year making an impressive run to the Super Bowl while also in the hunt for the league MVP award. Sunday’s game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
