The highly anticipated 2026-2027 NFL season is upon us as the reigning 2025-26 champions, the Seattle Seahawks, kick off the regular season at home against the New England Patriots for Wednesday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 6:20 p.m. MT.
The Denver Broncos won’t play until Monday, September 14, 2026, against their division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes. Monday night’s showdown will take place at 6:15 p.m. MT.
After having a turnaround season last year, the Broncos look to come in hot against a divisional powerhouse and solidify their re-emergence as an elite and dangerous team in the league, whereas the Chiefs are coming off a rather disappointing season, finishing 6-11 with an injury-ridden roster. Both teams are hungry for separate reasons and will undoubtedly put on a performance to remember.
All starters are expected to play on Monday for the Broncos.
In other Colorado sports, anticipation builds as we near the beginning of preseason for the Colorado Avalanche and the NHL. The Avs look strong this season with a roster that balances both young and veteran level talents. Only time will tell if this year will be notable, but the lead-up so far proves to be promising.
The Colorado Rockies continue to lose as their three game Cardinals series ended with a 10-8 loss on Sunday night, September 6. That loss would also end the series in a sweep loss for the Rockies as well as eliminate them officially out of playoff contention for this season.
Their current three game series versus the Yankees appears to be the same losing story as the New York Yankees beat the Rockies Tuesday night 5-3. The Rockies will play game two on Wednesday, September 9, at 5:05 p.m. MT. The third and final game of the series will take place Thursday, September 10, at 5:05 p.m. MT. After that the Rockies are set for another three-game series that will play into the weekend against the Detroit Tigers, the series ending Sunday, September 13.
